Royal Revolt 2 is a tower defense strategy game where you play as a King or Queen building your kingdom’s defenses while raiding other players’ castles. The game flips the typical tower defense formula by putting you on both sides, designing defensive paths to protect your castle and then personally leading armies to break through enemy defenses.

On offense, you control your hero directly and march through enemy castles with an army behind you. Troops include Archers, Paladins, Werewolves, Dragons, and more, each with different strengths suited to different strategies. You cast spells in real-time during raids to support your army while smashing through towers, obstacles, and enemy troops blocking your path. The RTS combat requires adapting your army composition and spell loadout based on what defenses you’re up against.

On defense, you design the layout of your castle path by placing towers, obstacles, and defensive troops. The goal is to create a route that’s as difficult as possible for attackers to get through.

This is where the strategy depth really comes in since you need to think about chokepoints, tower placement synergies, and which troop combinations will slow down different attack strategies.
RPG elements run throughout the game. Your hero levels up, equips gear, and can be enhanced at the Blacksmith where you melt down unwanted items for Pearls and apply magical Runes to boost your offense and defense. A Pet Pal and Royal Guardian system adds companions that fight alongside you. A dungeon beneath your castle holds unlockable troops.

The social side includes Alliances where you team up with other players for Alliance Wars, Conquests, and Ninja Events that reward powerful chests and boosts. The game has been running for years and has a dedicated long-term playerbase.

The main issue for returning or new players is the steep catch-up curve. Food is needed to battle but is heavily limited, gold costs for upgrades are high, and matchmaking places you against maxed-out opponents in your league making progression frustrating early on.
