Then one day you bump into a stranger named Gavin at the library, and a book he drops contains a photograph of the exact mansion from your dreams. His sister has gone missing and the trail leads to the same place. From there, you and your companions set out to figure out what is going on.

The gameplay is standard visual novel fare. You read through the story and make choices at key moments that change how things play out. Some choices can lead to a game over, others push you toward different endings with different characters. The three main love interests each bring something different to the table. Trevor is the loud, athletic childhood friend who does not believe in the supernatural until things get real. Gavin is the quiet, serious type searching for answers about his sister. Lewis is the shy occult nerd whose knowledge turns out to be the most useful when the horror elements kick in.

Interactive Studio’s other titles follow a similar formula. They have put out games about stalkers, vampires, half-blood kings, and nightmares, all as choice-based visual novels with an anime art style. Shadows of the Grudge House fits right into that catalog. The writing leans toward the Japanese otome genre where the female protagonist navigates relationships with multiple male characters, but the horror framing gives it a different flavor than the usual romance-only visual novels.
