DESCRIPTION
What if you could step inside a Korean drama and change how it ends? That is the pitch behind Storypick, and on paper it is a killer concept. Developed by Day7, a subsidiary of Com2uS, Storypick takes actual popular Korean shows and novels and turns them into interactive visual novels where your choices reshape the story. We are not talking about random knockoff plots either. Netflix’s zombie thriller Kingdom, the dating reality show Heart Signal, the web drama The Gossip Room, and the massively popular school romance series Marked by King Bs are all playable here. If you follow K-dramas at all, that lineup alone is enough to get you interested.
The art is gorgeous. Day7 went with a clean, high-quality manga style that fits the Korean romance aesthetic perfectly. Male characters look like they walked out of a manhwa, the backgrounds are polished, and the overall visual presentation punches above its weight for a mobile visual novel. The music is subtle but well chosen, quiet enough to let you focus on the story without fading into silence. Players who came from Day7’s earlier game Wannabe Challenge will feel right at home with the production quality.
The story library covers a solid range of genres. School romance, office romance, BL, campus romance, fantasy, thriller, sci-fi, and historical drama are all represented. The King Bs trilogy (Marked, Loved, and Memories) is the flagship series and was popular enough in Korea to get adapted into a live-action web drama. Kingdom lets you rewrite the fate of characters in a Joseon dynasty zombie outbreak. Heart Signal puts you into the shoes of a contestant navigating a dating show. Each story plays out in chapters where you make choices at key moments that branch the narrative toward different endings.
And then there is the gem situation. Storypick’s biggest problem is the same one that plagues almost every interactive story app, but it feels especially sharp here because the stories are genuinely good enough that you want to engage with them properly. Every romantic interaction, every meaningful dialogue choice, every outfit for a date costs diamonds. The prices are steep, often 100+ gems for a single choice. You earn one gem per completed chapter, two if you watch an ad. Daily logins help, but the math does not add up. Players consistently describe the experience as being forced to push love interests away over and over because the only free dialogue options are cold or dismissive. The paid options are the ones where your character actually shows emotion or reciprocates feelings, which turns the romance into a frustrating loop of rejection unless you pay up.
The ticket system limits how much you can read per session too, though it is not the worst implementation out there. You can earn tickets through the in-game free station features.
Storypick fills a niche that no other English-language app really covers. Korean drama adaptations with interactive storytelling, beautiful art, and multiple endings is a genuinely unique offering. The stories are well translated and engaging, the variety is solid, and the production quality is high. It just needs a more reasonable gem economy. When the best parts of every romance are locked behind a paywall that the free earn rate cannot realistically keep up with, even the most invested players start looking elsewhere.
